Lindsay Lohan and the News

News organizations are a bit two-faced about Lindsay Lohan. Sex sells, so they like to put a picture of a sexy lady on television. News organizations are a bit two-faced about Lindsay Lohan. Sex sells, so they like to put a picture of a sexy lady on television. When she wears a sexy dress to court, they put that on television and then they criticize her for wearing a sexy dress. If they didn’t cover the story, nobody would care.

Years ago, the press criticized Britney Spears for not wearing panties. I blame the paparazzi for taking up-skirt shots. They had to align their cameras just right to get these shots.

Tax Cuts and Deficit

All these tax cuts make me nervous. We have a budget deficit to deal with and without tax increases, the deficit won’t be brought under control. In the short run, everyone is trying to stimulate the economy. The problem is that the recession may last for years. We can’t keep these deficits up for an extended time period. The way to fix the job market is through tariffs. Neither party is proposing that.

Keith Olbermann

I’m shocked, shocked to learn that Keith Olbermann might be biased. I had no idea.

Progressive Liberal

Now that Democrats have started calling themselves progressives, I’ve started calling myself a liberal. Sometimes I call myself a conservative depending on who I want to piss off.

Al Gore and the Internet

A woman accused Al Gore of assaulting her. She said that she didn’t go to the police right away, because she didn’t know what the crime was called (sexual assault). She had to go on the Internet to look it up. Does Al Gore regret inventing the Internet? http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/police_release_tape_from_gore_accuser_U2IYikDw6N8YxmABezRAOI

Constitutional Health Care Reform

Some Republicans argue that the recently signed health care reform package is unconstitutional. This strikes me as a dangerous argument. Suppose Republicans succeed. Some Republicans argue that the recently signed health care reform package is unconstitutional. This strikes me as a dangerous argument. Suppose Republicans succeed. Suppose that the Supreme Court starts striking down all health plans — both Democratic and Republican plans. That would render the problem unsolvable. There are 45 million uninsured and that problem has to be addressed. We can’t just go around striking down all health plans and rendering the problem unsolvable.

45,000 people a year die due to lack of health coverage. Thousands go bankrupt. As costs and unemployment go up, more and more companies are going to drop health coverage for their employees. Thus far, Republicans are proposing tiny solutions that will insure very few additional people. Tort reform would be good, but that won’t solve all of our problems.

Mitt Romney has signed more substantial legislation in Massachusetts, but on the national front, he has fallen in line with other Republicans. I don’t know why — maybe he is planning to run for President again.

Killing Killer Whales

I think that they should kill the killer whale Tilikum should be killed. I think that bears, sharks, and alligators that kill people should be killed. I would apply the same standard to whales. You don’t want to release it into the wild, because it might kill or train other whales to kill humans. Most animals don’t kill humans for a reason and that reason is that we’re kind of mean. We need to maintain that meanness to keep animals in their place.

Keeping Tilikum caged for life is OK, but it should not be allowed to breed. He already has more than a dozen kids which is enough. Whales are expensive and if Sea World is willing to foot the bill, they can keep it caged. There are laws against killing whales, so my advice can’t be followed unless laws are changed.

In the case of sharks, they should go after a killer shark immediately, because sharks are mobile and if you fart around, you won’t find it.

Glass vs. Silver

Who are the villains in the health care debacle?  My list:

Republican Leadership: The party of no.

Mitt Romney: He supported a move towards universal coverage in his home state of Massachusetts.  In the national debate, he fell in line with Republican leadership.  He could have been a voice for reason on the Republican side, but he wasn’t.  As governor, he never pardoned anybody which suggests that he’s a cold bastard.

Max Baucus: He dragged his feet and he larded up the bill with taxes that nobody else wanted.  He absolutely loved the idea of taxing health plans.  It is one reason the bill ran into friction.  I saw something about reducing Medicare which is also a dangerous thing to do.  We should have got this bill out of the way before Scott Brown won.

Joseph Lieberman: For expanding Medicare before he was against it.

Barack Obama: He never threw out his own proposal.  Early on, he promised revenue neutral which gave Baucus the green light to add taxes to his plan.  I agree that we need taxes, but if you tax anything within the health care system, you increase the cost of health care.  It is better to simply raise income taxes.

Harry Reid: Oh My God, they might filibuster.  I better hide under a rock.  I won’t even bother submitting the bill for a vote.

Drunk Congressmen

Some People criticized Max Baucus for giving a speech while drunk.  My feeling is that that’s the only time when politicians are honest.  They should get drunk more often.  From time to time, they hold congressional hearings on this or that.  Everybody should get plastered.
