{"id":31,"date":"2010-01-24T07:59:23","date_gmt":"2010-01-24T15:59:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/n676.com\/blog\/2010\/health-care-reform-villains\/"},"modified":"2010-01-26T20:16:27","modified_gmt":"2010-01-27T04:16:27","slug":"health-care-reform-villains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/n676.com\/blog\/2010\/health-care-reform-villains\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Care Reform Villains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who are the villains in the health care debacle?\u00a0 My list:<\/p>\n<p>Republican Leadership: The party of no.<\/p>\n<p>Mitt Romney: He supported a move towards universal coverage in his home state of Massachusetts.\u00a0 In the national debate, he fell in line with Republican leadership.\u00a0 He could have been a voice for reason on the Republican side, but he wasn&#8217;t.\u00a0 As governor, he never pardoned anybody which suggests that he&#8217;s a cold bastard.<\/p>\n<p>Max Baucus: He dragged his feet and he larded up the bill with taxes that nobody else wanted.\u00a0 He absolutely loved the idea of taxing health plans.\u00a0 It is one reason the bill ran into friction.\u00a0 I saw something about reducing Medicare which is also a dangerous thing to do.\u00a0 We should have got this bill out of the way before Scott Brown won.<\/p>\n<p>Joseph Lieberman: For expanding Medicare before he was against it.<\/p>\n<p>Barack Obama: He never threw out his own proposal.\u00a0 Early on, he promised revenue neutral which gave Baucus the green light to add taxes to his plan.\u00a0 I agree that we need taxes, but if you tax anything within the health care system, you increase the cost of health care.\u00a0 It is better to simply raise income taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Harry Reid: Oh My God, they might filibuster.\u00a0 I better hide under a rock.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t even bother submitting the bill for a vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who are the villains in the health care debacle?\u00a0 My list: Republican Leadership: The party of no.
